At KONCEP, we strive to tailor our printing services to our customers’ needs through a greater range of contract manufacturing services, unique processes and low cost. To realize this goal, we are constantly pursuing new innovations and improvements in every aspect of our operations from graphics design, to material purchasing, manufacturing and quality control.

We know that effective cost management and proper manufacturing techniques are critical to providing the customer with good quality products at a great price. This has been the philosophy at KONCEP since we were founded in 1932. In making the most effective use of raw materials and using the most cost-effective production processes, we are able to reduce costs and pass the savings on to everyone!

We started from Tainan City in Taiwan 
In Tainan, "Warmth" and "Simplicity" play an important role in people lives. In fact, the best way to describe the Tainan culture would be "Sincerity". Friendly smiles and sincere hearts are everywhere you look in this city filled with warmth and simplicity.

KONCEP的故事開始於1932年，那年，我們的創辦人高長先生在台南創立「高長裝訂所」，從事手工書本裝訂的業務。

1932′s
The KONCEP story began in 1932 when Mr. Chang Kao set up the "Kao Chang Binding Company" in Tainan specializing in the binding of hand-made books.

▍1940年代
創辦人高長先生的三子高傳庭接手裝訂所，努力提昇裝訂產量並增加活版印刷業務，其後在第二次世界大戰中，裝訂所不幸遭到炮火炸毀。戰後，高傳庭先生從殘缺不全的機械零件堆中，重新組裝生產機台，並進而擴充服務範圍到平版印刷，至此，公司更名為「高長印書局」。

1940′s
Mr. Chang Kao passed ownership of the binding company to his third eldest son Chuan-ting Kao took who concentrated on boosting binding capacity and expanding the typographic printing business. The binding company was unfortunately destroyed by bombs during World War 2. After the war, Chuan-ting Kao pieced machines from scavenged parts. He also expanded the business to include lithographic printing. The company was is now named "Kao Chang Book Printing Company".

▍1960年代
高傳庭先生於日本東京成立「高長印刷株式會社」，設立第一個海外據點，主要承接日本各大出版活字排版之業務。

1960′s
Mr. Chuan-ting Kao set up the "Takanaga Printing Company" in Tokyo. This became the company’s first overseas office and specialized in providing typesetting services to major Japanese publishers.

▍1980年代
高傳庭先生退休，由二子高文彬接手公司事務，並引進全國第一部商用輪轉印刷機。公司增資二億元，並於台南市永康區興建新廠房，同期成立高昇出版社，KONCEP開始具備今日的雛形。

1980′s
When Mr. Chuan-ting Kao retired, his second eldest son Wen-pin Kao took over and introduced the first commercial web press in Taiwan. The company raised NT$200 Million in capital to build a new factory in Tainan City’s Yongkang District. Kaosheng Publishing was established at the same time and it would eventually grow into modern-day KONCEP.

▍1990年代
1996年永康廠遭火災，損失金額高達新台幣四億餘元，災後迅速於原址重建一千二百坪的新廠房，至此，公司更名為「高長文化事業股份有限公司」。火災後的第三年，高文彬先生添購永康區中正路土地，並於該址增建佔地一千四百坪的高長二廠，二廠內並增購三菱和海德堡輪轉印刷機器。

1990′s
In 1996, a fire caused over $400 Million in damages to the Yongkang factory. A new 1200-ping factory was quickly rebuilt on the old site and the company was renamed "KONCEP Company Ltd." Three years after the fire, Mr. Wen-pin Kao purchased land on Zhongzheng Rd. in Yongkang District and built the new 1400-ping No.2 KONCEP Factory equipped with Mitsubishi and Heidelberg commercial web presses.

▍2000年到現在
由高文彬先生長子高偉豪接手公司事務，引進海德堡八色平版印刷機，和各種先進的印前及印後設備。先後曾申請通過ISO 9001和G7色彩管理認證。成立「台灣印通」網站，服務設計印刷同業，網址: www.印通.tw。

2000
through to present day Mr. Wen-pin Kao’s eldest son Wei-how Kao became the new head of the company and introduced the 8-color Heidelberg offset printing machine along with other advanced pre- and post-printing equipment. KONCEP has since applied for and received ISO 9001 and G7 color management certification. The company also set up the "prinTaiwan" website (www.prinTaiwan.tw) to provide services to the rest of the design and printing industry.

▍商品線的開發與生產
在KONCEP設計開發商品時，樸實是終極的目標，所以設計師不斷構思如何用設計來達成樸實的目標。KONCEP的商品開發人員，確保樸實的概念從我們的工廠就實行。商品開發人員考慮如何用最有效率的方式使用生產設備，充分利用所有的原料，並且將廢棄物減量到最少。

Development and Operation of Production Lines
Product development at KONCEP has simplicity as its final goal. The designer is therefore always looking for designs that will realize this goal. KONCEP’s merchandising personnel ensures that simplicity is practiced in our factories. Merchandising personnel think about how the production equipment can be used in the most efficient manner to ensure that as much of the raw materials are used as possible and to keep waste to a minimum.

KONCEP的經營理念是建構在與客戶們的合作關係上，我們在全球尋找最合適的紙張供應商，共同在現有的生產過程中找出更有效率、經濟的方式來印製商品。然後，我們的採購人員在各地尋找價格合理、品質良好的原物料供應商合作，並藉由大量採購來減低原物料的購買成本。透過不斷的尋找、構思和行動，我們降低生產價格。

Realizing Our Ideals Together
KONCEP’s business philosophy is built on the relationship with our customers. We search the world for the best paper suppliers and work together to look for more efficient and economical printing methods in our existing production process. Our purchasing personnel then look for suppliers that offer good quality at reasonable prices then reduce our purchasing costs through economies of scale. Constant searching, thinking and action allow us to reduce our production costs.

▍ 製版服務 在KONCEP，我們使用日本技術生產的紫外線傳統印刷板材，使 用傳統板材的優點，在於印刷時網點的穩定性、本身的耐印量及保 留板材後再上機的適印性極高。我們使用瑞士生產的電腦製版機， 利用它高性能的藍色激光二極管，來為高品質的印刷網點成像。 結合這二項因素，使我們不僅為客戶節省成本，又能兼顧品質!

Plate Making Service At KONCEP, we use Japanese UV plate printing technology as traditional plates deliver more stable patterns, are more durable and stand up better to repeated print runs. Our computerized plate making machines are built in Switzerland. The high-performance machines and blue laser diode ensures high quality prints. When these two factors are combined together, we not only help reduce customer costs but also deliver good quality as well!

▍印刷服務 一位我們生管部同仁在參觀造紙工廠時，發現由造紙機所生產出來 的紙張均是捲成圓筒狀，然後再裁切成平張紙後包裝販售，我們在想， 如果能讓捲筒紙在未裁切的形態下被販售使用，就能節省裁切和包裝成 本，減少了這些成本，意味著我們可以提供客戶更低價的原料。 為此，我們備有目前全臺灣唯一，可使用捲筒紙的張頁印刷機 「Heidelberg SM102-8-P with CutStar」，它具有使用捲筒紙、壓撕裂線 和雙面彩色印刷一次完成的能力，使我們有效的減低人力、時間及紙張 的成本。在工廠內另設置大型商用輪轉式印刷機數台，全數使用捲筒 紙，印刷後可直接在印刷機台上完成摺紙或裁切成平張紙，以方便各種 產品尺寸的後續作業。 在KONCEP，有百分之九十的生產，使用捲筒紙直接上機印刷!

Printing Services A colleague from the production management was on a tour of a paper mill when he noticed that the machines output rolls of paper that were then cut into separate sheets for packaging and sale. If the rolls of paper can be sold and used directly, this would save on cutting and packaging costs. To us, this translated into even cheaper raw materials for our customers. This is why we operate the only "Heidelberg SM102-8-P with CutStar" printing machine. The roll-fed printing machine cuts sheets and does double-sided color printing at the same time, effectively reducing the cost of manpower, time and paper. Other large commercial web press machines in the factory are all roll-fed as well. Printer paper can be folded or cut into sheets directly on the machine so they can be processed into products of various sizes. At KONCEP, 90% of our production output is printed directly from paper rolls!

Folding Service  It is not easy to meet all of the different paper folding requirements that customers may have. Our extensive experience as well as custom paper folding machines has allowed us to expand our range of folding formats to meet every challenge. At KONCEP, we can mix and match different folding methods. For semi-finished products that have already been folded we can also load them into the machines for further folding as well. Please do not hesitate to call us if you have any special requirements or bring your own paper for test folding.

▍裝訂服務 提供高品質又安全的產品是KONCEP的理想與經 營理念的核心，我們採用無毒的熱熔膠、英國製的 壓線輪，配合瑞士生產的無線膠裝機來裝訂書冊。 我們也提供騎馬釘的裝訂服務。 在KONCEP，我們不斷努力把每件事做到更好、 更安全、更有效率。

Binding Service Providing a safe and high quality product is the core business philosophy of KONCEP. We use non-toxic hot glue, UK-built creaser wheels and Swiss-made perfect binding machines for binding books. We also provide saddle-stitch binding services. At KONCEP, we constantly strive to do everything better, safer and more efficiently.

KONCEP strives to satisfy our customers’ different needs after printing– including collating, punching, coating, shrink-wrapping and even delivery. We are constantly looking for new finishing methods that will efficiently finish the product and reduce waste.
